Cold Frames

If you want to protect your plants during the colder weather, you’re definitely going to need a Cold Frame. Functioning like a mini greenhouse, a Cold Frame, with its transparent top, allows sunlight in and prevents heat escape during the colder nights.

Traditionally, Cold Frames were used to harden-off seedlings and plants grown in the greenhouse, before finally being transplanted into the garden.

Creating their own microclimate, Cold Frames have today become an essential tool in the armoury of the cottage gardener, allowing earlier crop production and extending the growing season of many plants and particularly vegetables into the autum and winter.
